Why location matters
WHS laws are similar across Australia, but not identical
Most states and territories have adopted the national model Work Health and Safety laws, each with its own local variations. Victoria has its own Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 and Regulations 2017. Thresholds, terminology and some duties differ — for example, the construction project value that triggers a WHS management plan is $250,000 under the model laws but $350,000 in Victoria. Your documents should be written for the jurisdiction where the work is done.
